Fire Chief
The City of Centerville, Iowa is hiring a full-time Fire Chief to lead Centerville Fire Rescue. This is a key leadership role overseeing fire suppression, prevention, rescue operations, training, and departmental administration for a combination department serving 96 square miles.
The Chief will supervise three full-time firefighters and 22 paid-per-call volunteers, working closely with the EMS Director to ensure coordinated emergency response. The position includes a rotating 24-hour on / 72-hour off schedule, plus additional administrative duties. The Chief is also responsible for budgeting, training, compliance, and community outreach.
Qualifications include 10 years of fire service experience, 5 years in supervision, EMT certification (or ability to obtain within 2 years), and obtaining residency in Appanoose County within 6 months.
Salary $75,000–$85,000 DOE, with full benefits.
